DUALISM OF LIGHT
LIGHT – DARK
Photoluminescence is a property of some of Earth’s elements that captures natural or artificial daylight and reflects it back into the darkness.
Photoluminescence, a luminescent rare-earth element, is a clean and renewable source of energy. It is harmless to the environment and human beings.
It “recharges” with any natural or artificial source, keeping its characteristics for several decades.
Water, fire, chemical substances and physical impact, do not compromise its strength.
The duration of the luminosity released is related to the proportion of light accumulated; it can last a few hours in dark conditions.
In Italy in 2006, I was the first to experiment with using luminescent rare-earth elements with resins. For me, the discovery of luminescent earth elements represented a special moment. In that moment I realised that I could create artworks with a double life, one diurnal and one nocturnal. This amazing phenomenon gives a double personality to my artworks that I conceptually define as “DUALISM OF LIGHT”.
