Biography

The master of resin

GIUSEPPE PORTELLA was born on 11th December 1962 in Novate Milanese, home to his workshop and where he currently lives.

He has Sicilian origins.

Since he was a boy, he has expressed an interest in and a passion for painting and art in general.

Totally self-taught, his techniques are progressively acquiring refinement and inspiration, in a creative and considered polyhedric nature devoted to continuous experimentation.

His resin artworks are found not only in Italy, but have also achieved success abroad.

He has had many personal, collective and international exhibitions.

He creates paintings, sculptures and design pieces in a unique style without ever abandoning resin, the heavenly material which renders everything everlasting.

In 2006, he was the first in Italy to examine the luminescent properties of rare-earth elements and to take advantage of their lighting effects, a natural property of these pigments, combining the old with the new, in his research into the metamorphosis of the past into the future.

In 2014, his first Public Artwork was unveiled in Novate Milanese, a sculpture positioned on a roundabout at the entrance to the town: “Tiamat”.

In May 2017, he secured his first museum exhibition at the FRANCESCO GONZAGA DIOCESAN MUSEUM in MANTUA.

“I am what I make, I try to communicate through my artworks, because they represent my true essence”
